Trees, thought to be the source of all life, were worshipped by the Celts for their connection to the underworld with their roots and the heavens with their branches. With this in mind, Celts believed trees to be portals to the spirit world and a way of connecting with their ancestors.
 
Each tree had its own powers:
 
Rowan - Guidance
Yew - Immortality, resurrection and longevity
Hazel - Giver of life
Elder - Protection
Apple - Youth and rebirth
Ash - Healing
Oak - Strength and Wisdom
Alder - Divination
Birch - Tree of birth
Willow - Balance, harmony and growth
