Yesterday l hosted a salvaged rope door mat rope weaving workshop at Bryn A Mor farm near Marros Sands.
Using over 160 m (525ft) of rope salvaged from our seas and sea bed around Pembrokeshire, all of my students created unique one of a kind rope mats for their homes, as Christmas gifts or for their wild swimming adventures.
Commercial fishing rope is now made for plastic fibres, which, overtime, breakdown into thousands of tiny pieces of micro plastics which pollute our oceans, kill marine life and become part of our food chain.
Ghost rope and netting often causes entanglement with our larger marine mammals, such as seals, turtles, whales, dolphins and other marine species. This often leads to the death of many of our beautiful marine mammals.
By repurposing the ghost rope donated by the many volunteers and charitable organisations that l work with, each participant of my workshops are directly helping us to protect our marine environment and preserve our marine life for future generations to enjoy.

Sharron, I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop yesterday, learning how to splice rope and going home with some lovely items that I made including an amazing door mat and a poppy. Considering that there were only 5 in the workshop and all the materials were included I thought it was very good value for money. I look forward to doing another one sometime and introducing your work to my daughter.
